The problem for law firms
Every level has its own rate, and every minute must be accounted for.
Law firms bill partners, associates and paralegals at different rates, round time as the engagement terms say, and pay court fees that are not firm revenue. Pulling it together from spreadsheets at every month-end invites mistakes.
01Partner and associate rates are retyped on every invoice.
Rates follow each person's level, and can differ per client or per matter.
Step 0102Time rounding is worked out by hand and disputed by clients.
Each session is rounded up to 6 minutes when it is valued and billed. The logged duration does not change.

Costs in the client's name are billed on a disbursements invoice without VAT, and stay out of revenue.

Revenue and client costs never mix.
The fee invoice becomes revenue and output VAT. The disbursements invoice only moves the amount from Client disbursements receivable to trade receivables, so it is not revenue and stays off the Tax page.

01Can some clients have different rates?
Yes. The Rates per level card is on the client page and in the matter's time log tab. The order is: the level's rate on the matter, then on the client, then the level's default rate. People without a level use the matter's or the client's hourly rate.
02What rounding options are there?
None, 6 minutes or 15 minutes, set in Settings → Professional billing. Each session is rounded up when it is valued and billed, so a 4-minute call is billed as 6 minutes.
The logged duration does not change: time logs and the client portal still show the original minutes.
03Is there a client trust account?
Not yet. Costs you pay on a client's behalf are recorded as Client disbursements receivable, not as revenue or a firm expense, then billed on a disbursements invoice. Deposits from clients held for court fees don't have a separate trust account yet.
04Can I run conflict-of-interest checks?
Not yet. Search finds clients, contacts and matters already on record, but there is no automatic conflict-of-interest check.
05How do I record hearing dates?
There is no dedicated case module for case numbers and hearing dates yet. What you can do now: record the hearing as a task on its matter, with a due date and an assignee, so it shows in the Agenda and on the team calendar.
06Can I use a foreign currency for overseas clients?
Yes, on every plan: USD, AUD, SGD or EUR. Level rates can be set per currency, or per client in the Rates per level card. Default rates in rupiah are never quietly converted.
Court fee deposits are recorded in rupiah, then converted at the exchange rate of their disbursements invoice.
